Democrat beholden to AT&T destroys California net neutrality bills
Assembly Member Miguel Santiago, a California Democrat, struck a deathblow to the state’s “gold standard” net neutrality bills yesterday. This scores a huge victory for some of Santiago’s biggest donors: AT&T, Comcast, and Charter. Rather than send the nation’s toughest consumer internet protections ahead unchanged for a vote, the Santiago-led Assembly Communications and Conveyance Committee forced telcom friendly amendments onto the bills. The changes essentially render them feckless.
