Angry Birds AR mobile game coming soon
Highlights: Angry Birds AR game is coming to mobiles Initially it will launch for iOS-powered devices that support ARKIt The game will be free to download with in-app purchases As the mobile gaming vertical hots up, developers are putting in extra effort to deliver the PC/Console gaming like experience on phones. At a time when the PUBG Mobile is ruling the space, Angry Birds has decided to “fly” into the fray. After coming to Oculus Rift and Vive headsets, game developer Rovio is now bringing the augmented reality experience to mobile for the first time. The game Angry Birds AR: Isle of Pigs will be initially available to iOS-powered devices that have ARKit support. Reportedly, the game will be available “later this spring,” but it is now available for pre-order. Angry Birds AR: Isle of Pigs will be a freemium app, which means that it will be free to download with in-app purchases. Engadget is testing the game and the tech news platform says that the game “uses Apple’s ARKit to construct virtual stages atop the real world, while you use your phone as a slingshot to topple them with irate birds.” Users can walk freely to figure out your best angle of attack. “You just pull back on your phone’s screen and let loose. The game also doesn’t prevent you from leaning in real close to make sure you hit the precise block you want,” it said. Gamers can also play it in the portrait mode because apparently, it works better for one-handed slinging. We still have to see if the game gains the level of popularity that other AR games like Pokemon Go got when they launched. Rovio says they have engineered the puzzles in such a way that players can move around and crouch down to find the weakest spot in to shoot the structure and unveil hidden items. The Angry Bird characters apparently react to the players' movements. For example, if you press the phone too close to pigs’ face or snout, they'll start making faces and show you the displeasure they feel when their personal space is invaded.
