OnePlus 3,3T OxygenOS 504 update brings front camera improvements, third-party fixes and more
OnePlus is seeding the latest OxygenOS 5.0.4 incremental software update for its OnePlus 3 and OnePlus 3T smartphones. The new patch brings some camera improvements, fixes for third-party-app issues, and updates the Android security patch of both handsets to July 2018. However, even after updating, the security patch level will be set at June but OnePlus says that it’s due to an un-updated string. As per a beta program and dev relations staff member, Manu J, “We missed updating a string in settings under security patch, and it incorrectly shows June (a typo), our apologies for the typo.” The new patch brings improvements to the front-facing camera of the OnePlus 3/3T. An issue with the Manual ISO setting of third-party camera apps has also been fixed. Some third-party apps issues like parallel WhatsApp crash, front-camera zoom issue for Snapchat is also now fixed. This is an incremental update, which is being rolled out in phases with a broader rollout scheduled in the coming days. Users will have to wait before it’s made available for their devices and can check if it is available by heading over to Software Update in their phone’s Settings. Those OnePlus 3/3T users, who are on the last open beta OS will need to flash the stable ROM manually by downloading it from here. The last open beta OS for the two smartphones was rolled out a couple of weeks ago. The OnePlus 3 receiving Open Beta 39, while the OnePlus 3T was updated to Open Beta 30. The smartphone manufacturer said that it would next seed a stable update for the devices later this month so that beta testers can go back to a stable version of OxygenOS for receiving regular Android security patch update. This new OxygenOS 5.0.4 seems to be the one company was talking about. OnePlus will now continue seeding regular software patches for the OnePlus 3/3T till November 2018. This was announced when OnePlus detailed a Software Maintenance Schedule for its devices. As per the schedule, OnePlus 3 and above devices will receive two years of regular software updates from the date of the phone's launch. After the initial two years of software updates are made available, the company will also roll out one more year of Android security patches on a bi-monthly basis. This means that the OnePlus 3/3T will be up-to-date in terms of security till November 2019. You can read more about the Software Maintenance Schedule here.
