Google Pixel 3a leaked image hints at 18:9 display aspect ratio, single rear camera and launch date

Reports of Google working on less-expensive Pixel phones are swelling up as the company's annual developer conference, Google I/O 2019 nears. The Google Pixel 3a and Pixel 3a XL are expected to be unveiled at the event and popular tipster Evan Blass has now joined the band of leaksters to reveal some new information about the devices.

Blass has posted an image of a Google-branded handset claiming that it is the Google Pixel 3a. The image of the phone is in-line with a render that was outed recently. In terms of design, the Pixel 3a is seen featuring noticeable bezels, a single rear camera on the upper left corner and a rear-mounted fingerprint sensor, every design element looking almost similar to the Pixel 3.

While Blass has not tipped at the phone’s specs, earlier reports have almost entirely revealed what to expect from the Pixel 3a. Before we get to the specs, one additional thing to note from the render is the date being shown on the phone’s display. The company recently teased an announcement that stated “big is coming to the Pixel universe,” and May 7, the date on phone’s render, is the first day of Google I/O 2019. While not clearly visible in the new render, the Pixel 3a and Pixel 3a XL are said to resurrect the headphone jack, which Google killed off with Pixel 3 series.

An earlier report suggests that Google Pixel 3a and Pixel 3a XL could sport 5.6-inch and 6-inch OLED displays, respectively. The larger Pixel 3a XL is tipped to run on the Qualcomm Snapdragon 710 SoC, coupled with 4GB RAM. On the other hand, the Pixel 3a could be backed by the Snapdragon 670 platform with 4GB RAM and a 3000mAh battery. Both the phones are expected to be announced running on Android 9 Pie.

Canadian prices of the Pixel 3a and Pixel 3a XL were leaked online recently. As per the report, the Google Pixel 3a might cost CAD $649 (Rs 34,000 approx), while the bigger Pixel 3a XL could be priced at CAD $799 (Rs 41,500 approx).
